Everyone dreads hearing the words “you’ve been served” by some guy pretending to deliver you a bouquet of flowers. But it happens to the best of us. Being sued is not unusual nowadays, and there are hundreds upon thousands of things you could be sued for that you will never see coming.
We have all heard the story of the lady who slipped on a wet floor somewhere and successfully sued the company for millions, right? But that is just a fraction of the unbelievable lawsuits that have been won across the world. There is no shortage of lawyers who are willing to fight a huge corporation if they think it will get them noticed, and put some money in their pocket.

1. One Inch Short
A Yolo County man sued the franchise owner of Subway restaurants because he says their heavily marketed “footlong” sandwiches are not, in fact, 12 inches long. The plaintiff contends in the filing that he purchased a footlong subway that measured 11 inches….
2. Too Much Plastic Surgery
They say blood is thicker than water, but it wasn’t thicker than ugly for one Chinese father. Jian Feng was shocked when his apparently beautiful wife gave birth to the couple’s first child, a baby that Jian said was “incredibly ugly, to the point where it horrified me.” In fact, the baby looked so different from both its parents, that the father accused his wife of having an affair.
Jian’s wife denied cheating on him, but admitted to having had more than $100,000 of plastic surgery prior to their nuptials. Jian divorced and sued his wife, and a sympathetic Chinese court awarded him $120,000, after ruling that his spouse had tricked him into marriage under false pretenses.
