Would you attend the International Highline Meeting festival if an invitation was sent to you? Maybe not….if you are a regular person on the street. However, for these extreme daredevils, it is a walk in the park to have a meeting hundreds of feet off the ground, mid-air across the Italian Alps in Monte Piana.
The attendees call themselves “slackers” because of the slacklines they balance themselves on. This extreme sport differs from tightrope walking in that the rope has a slightly flattened shaped and has slack, meaning that it can move side-to-side or bounce.
Despite the fact that these ‘slackers’ spend most of their time suspended across the magnificent Alps, the festival was not all ‘slacking around’ as the meeting boosted a kitchen, bar and musical jam sessions. Believe it or not, there is also a yoga workshop organized for attendees and of course, the festival would not be complete without tandem paraglider flights through the Alps.
